[ PHYSICAL POWER TREE ] [ SPIRITUAL POWER TREE ] [ FAQ ] [ JOINING? ]
The Zodiacs, forever etched into the sky, once walked the land with the mortals below. Their physical forms were that of who they represented; Ram, Bull, Scorpion, Fish, and Lion alike—along with others yet mentioned. They lived in the solitude of their own, sometimes retreating to the stars, but occasionally meeting together; sharing news from their own regions of the world. Among this time, they were no longer leaders of the elements, signs, stars, and mortals. They were now equals amongst one another, and, despite the deep tension between The Father Scorpio and Leo, all was relatively peaceful. These meetings were held each time a new constellation phased into the sky, and for centuries it lasted this way, with all thirteen signs nursing each other and their ceremonial meeting, until…
Ophiuchus, the snake Zodiac, became brazen with power and treason. With his trusted followers, all animals of the land, he launched an attack on the twelve others, and after he and his fighters were defeated, he was cast from the stars; powers stripped from him and left to be forgotten.
But, the damage that was left on the Father and Mother Zodiacs was irreversible. In the bodies splayed across their meeting place, they found, to their horror, every single animal they nurtured and taught. Every life they loved—from the smallest of mice to the tallest of giraffes. Even the creatures from the sea, blood and water from the Zodiac’s tears resting on the ground. Slowly, they began to clean the mess, and as they did so, another animal appeared. Immediately, the powerful deities were tense and upset, but the animal, with his followers of the same species behind him, quickly explained that they had come, too late, to warn the parents of their world. The Zodiacs, still suspicious, checked all bodies beneath them, only to find that what this animal said was true. There was none of his kind among the bodies. With this realization, the Zodiacs accepted this, but returned to their tedious task, much to the animals’ confusion—until they were informed that the Zodiacs would no longer be staying on the land that was stained by blood and betrayl. Quickly, the animals began to burst into pleas for them to stay, but the Leo, sending a mighty roar to silence them, only offered them a solemn ‘Thank You’ before returning to the stars. With a deep sigh, echoing together as one, the other signs followed, though glancing back, unsure. With that final cast, they shifted to the sky, leaving only one left on the ground with them.
The Virgo, still remaining in her soft essence of compassion that she had, stared down at the animals with a soft eye, before shaking her head. She began to raise her hands to the sky and, for a moment, the animals were stricken with fear. But, they quickly relaxed, now jaw-dropped in awe. Power from the stars above them began to flow down from the sky to the fingertips of the beautiful Mother Zodiac. The other Zodiacs, stuck in the sky, grew enraged, but the Virgo offered them words of peace, and though their worries didn’t calm, they still allowed the Virgo enough of their power, knowledge, and gifts to provide the animals everything they needed to take their place.
The animals were grateful, but the Zodiacs weren’t done. As the gifts transferred from the body of the Virgo to the frames of these animals, marks became branded into their fur, Crests to show that they were chosen by the Stars by the Mother and Father signs. Not many animals had the same sign as another, but some quickly found one with a matching in color and shape, proving they were chosen by the Star Gods that had chosen them to be. Each gift, given with each crest, now etched into the animals themselves, varied in ability that coursed through them. Some animals immediately felt as though they could run forever, and quicker. Others felt the need to bury themselves under the water near them, and to swim until their hearts content. Few didn’t understand the gift given to them, yet, but each gift was unique and completely different, hand chosen for each animal just as their crest was. With their last object of choice, all Zodiacs reluctantly picked one, to carry true traits of themselves. To these twelve animals, they granted extra knowledge, temperament, and care so they could bless their land strongly, like the Father and Mother Zodiacs themselves once did, and yet, they remained mortal in soul—to protect the stars and give each chosen animal a fair life.
Confusion stretched through the animals now. Where would they go? Certainly they could not live with the animals that had, earlier, betrayed their Signs? Jealousy through the land would spread and it would only result in more war. To this, the Virgo pondered, and after a good moment she looked to the stars again, beckoning one’s attention with the wave of a hand. The Mother Aries frowned down, disapprovingly, at the Virgo but said nothing as she was instructed to raise the ground at their very feet. The large land that they had all once shared to travel on and talk in, the land that had earlier been bathed in blood and lives lost, would now become these animals sacred land. So, they would lift it, further towards the sky—turn it into a tall hill that left them safe away from the other animals, but gave them the option to leave if they so very pleased.
The Aries did not approve. She disapproved of it all. But, instead of speaking on this to the soft-voiced maiden, the Aries gave a bit more of her own power to the land. The animals braced themselves as the ground shook, grumbled, and roared, ears popping as the once-flat land began to grow and stretch towards the sky. But, what was requested to be one hill, turned into two, the Aries giving a smaller part of land to the sky as well; so the once-meeting-place and new-living-place for the loyal souls below was the bigger and taller of the two, offering them place to stretch their legs, hunt, and raise a family. But, would they be able to live like this? What was missing? The Aquarius quickly figured this out and, after a moment of concentrating on the ground below, gave the land water—enough to last them forever, with a large waterfall falling from the top hill to the bottom. How grateful were these animals? Grateful enough to promise the Virgo, who stared down at them with a smiling face, and the rest of the Zodiacs that they would forever be in their debt and would forever praise the Zodiacs. Their signs. They’d create a society, in their image, and be sure that none of their own, generation after generation, would forget what happened on that night.
The Zodiacs nodded, waving away the many thank you’s that ran out, before sending down one of their own.

CHAPTER 1
Thin tendrils of grass stirred, whispered secrets to one another as the wind flattened them to the dry earth. The voice of nature was ever-present, prone to spreading news in hushed tones that few could grasp. Fair weather had been afoot for several days long, would run onward for more still, not a cloud hovering in the sky to stain the beautiful expanse of blue. An odd sort of warmth had taken over the air, and blazing heat was cast down from the angry body of the sun. Creatures of all shapes and sizes, from the smallest of ants to the largest of felines, took shelter among the crevices of rocks and beneath sun-scorched leaf canop
