General Information

What is Keepers-Of-The-13 about?

KoT13 is a literate roleplay group based around cats and the astrological zodiacs. It is a nice, new twist on the Warriors concept that involves something everyone can relate to, while still having a lot of fun. Here in KoT13 the RPs run based on hierarchies, from century-long wars between the cats in the group. We’re going to do our best to get this group running and active, with new ideas to keep it alive for a long time to come.

Is it like The-Golden-Butterfly?

As far as originality goes, absolutely! Overall, no, KoT13 is very different from TGB, even if some of the admins are members of both groups.

Can I join?

Anyone is welcome to join KoT13 whenever there are positions open. Be sure to check the group homepage regularly to see if we have an opening coming up.
Before making an app, always be sure to ask yourselves the following questions;
1. Are you a literate RPer?
2. Did you read all of our blogs to get a proper understanding of the group?
3. Do you have the time and dedication to be an active member?
4. Do you have any issues with any of our staff members?
If you answered yes, yes, yes, and no, then by all means send in an application!

Can I join as a kit?

No, we apologize but we do not accept kits. Kittens need mothers, they cannot just spontaneously join a sign.

Can my cats have powers?

As a matter of fact, yes, they can! There are two different branches available for powers, those that are Physical, and those that are Spiritual. You can read the full explanation of these powers here and here.

Do our cats have signs (like tattoos)?

As a matter of fact, yes. Here in KoT13 these marks are known as crests. Each sign has a different crest, which is placed upon a certain area of the body. These crests can be found here. Remember to read the information on the crest sheet carefully.

Can my cat be named Windpaw, Bramblehead, or Louis Marie?

That would be a no, sorry. We do not want our group to have any cats with Warriors names, as this is not a Warriors group. It is also advised that you steer clear of the Warrior Terminology, such as ‘Clan’, ‘Mouse-Brain’, and other terms like those. Feel free to create your own terms and insults for things (which you can also note to the group and see if we would like to make it an official KoT13 term).
Your character should not have a first and last name, nor should they have extremely complicated names. The name does not necessarily need to have a meaning, and could be just about anything. Keep in mind that your cat should have only one name, thank you.

Can my cat meet and be friends with cats of different signs?

That is absolutely fine; such things are the reason why there are so many open, neutral areas on the map. Keep in mind that your cat must always remain completely loyal to their Sign, Zodiac, and Alliance above all else. Outside of that, they are free to meet and interact with whomever they please.

Are there monthly gatherings?

No, there is no Gathering held by the cats every month. Instead, there is a meeting which celebrates each Sign whenever they come to term in the sky, so news is spread by word of ear. For example:
Pisces constellation is in view, the cats will celebrate. They will not have a large, news-sharing meeting. Any word or information is carried purely from one cat to another, much like gossip.

Does my cat have to be my actual Zodiac sign?

Of course not, it would be unfair of us to expect you to wait for an opening in your own sign, when others have space. We would prefer if you try out for your own Zodiac, but you do not have to do so, and will very gladly accept you into any sign you apply for.

Can my Virgo cat be as hot-headed as a Scorpio one?

We are sorry, but no. It is preferred that you cats’ personalities stick close to the guidelines of your Zodiac’s personality stereotype. These stereotypical personality traits can be found in the artist comments of the application sheet itself, or via use of a search engine. Remember, these personalities can vary in intensity, and each cat can have quirks of their own, but there should not be a hot-headed or emo Virgo, and an always bubbly and happy Scorpio.

Can my cat dream of their Zodiac giving them a prophecy?

Each of the Mothers and Fathers of the Zodiac are strictly off-limits. No magically thought up prophecies please unless you are given approval by the admins. Do not take matters into your own hands and create prophecies willy-nilly, as that can spoil the fun of the group. Thanks.

Can my cat have tattoos, pink fur, black emo headfur, and a unicorn horn?!

I am sorry, but beyond the given crest of your cats’ sign, there are no tattoos. This is also not a ‘sparkle cat’ group, so no unnatural colours, no mystical animal horns, no emo hairstyles (that are not part of your art style), no clothing.

Can my cat have a mate outside of his / her own Sign?

Absolutely, there is nothing wrong with a cat taking a mate from another Sign. However, do keep in mind that your cats’ first loyalty must be to their Sign, regardless of
Of course they can~ However, as stated, your cat’s loyalty must remain to their Sign. This means they cannot move to another sign and their kits that are born stay with the mother.

Can I switch my cat from one sign to another?

No, we apologize be we do not want to make the signs interchangeable, as that can make things confusing. Keep your cat in one sign, and stick with it.

Can my cat move to a different alliance?

We would prefer if your cat stays with their designated signs, as we don’t want the groups to become integrated with each other. Those of the Eastern Alliance, stay in the Eastern Alliance. Those in the Western, remain in the Western. Those of the Northern, stay Northern.

Is the thirteenth Zodiac involved?

At the moment, no, and we are not sure he ever will be. While our group is called Keepers-Of-The-13, that does not necessarily mean we will use all thirteen signs. As stated in the group’s Backstory of life, the Thirteenth sign was cast from the stars.

Are there humans?

Humans do not exist within our RP group, as the cats live atop a mountain that was granted to them by the Mother and Father Zodiacs. Therefore we should not read any backstories about your cat coming from ‘Twolegs’ or ‘Housefolk’, nor should one ever be encountered within an RP.

Can my cat have accessories?

Previously the answer to this question was no, though as of late we’ve decided to change things. Yes, your cat may have accessories. However they must be something that could be created by the cat, therefore no glass beads, no golden chains, no silver bracelets. A feather, a bracelet of woven grass, et cetera. If the accessory is a little more complicated than that, please explain to us how it was made by the cat.

You aren’t open and I really want to join, can I please send in an application?

No, we are sorry but we cannot accept every single person who wishes to become a member. Please sit tight and wait for the next open position, and send in your application then. Feel free to come up with a design for your character while you wait, and put it on the proper app sheet when the group is open once again.

Can I have more than one character?

Yes, you may have up to two characters total. However, you may not apply for a second character in the same opening you joined. If you wish for a second character you must be active, and must have been a member of KoT13 for at least three months. What that means is:
Member A joins in May. There is an opening in June. They cannot apply. After that, the next opening is in September, which means that Member A has been in the group for more than three months and is welcome to apply for their second character.

Can I use a lineart for my character?

Unfortunately no, we do not allow lineart for your characters. If you are, for some reason, unable to draw your own app, you may ask a friend, or commission someone else to draw the art for you.

Which signs are Mothers and which signs are Fathers here in KoT13?

Can I reserve a spot?

We are sorry, but the positions here at KoT13 are decided on a best application, first come, and first serve basis.
Member A applies for Gemini and submits their app on day one. Member B applies for the position as well, and submits their app on day three. Member C also wishes to join Gemini, and submits their application on day six. Member A and Member C had the better applications.
Neither one is better than the other. However, Member A submitted theirs first, and therefore they get the spot.
Please keep in mind this only occurs in the event we are torn between applications.
